This Artist-in-Residence Programme awards fellowships to artists in which they spend five months at the NIAS working on a project that contributes to cross-fertilisation between the arts and science. The purpose of the residency is to study the theoretical aspects of a subject in-depth. The programme was established jointly by the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS-KNAW) and the Society of Arts.
The Artist-in-Residence Programme makes two places available each academic year. One place is available from 1 September to 1 February, and the other is available from 1 February to 1 July.
The Artist-in-Residence receives a monthly stipend for a five-month period (maximum) and temporary housing near the NIAS.
